Yamazakura

Now a well-established distillery, Sasanokawa Shuzo's journey as spirits producers began in 1765 but it wasn't until 1946 they started making whisky. Word spread quickly until they became a must-have in the region, able to compete against Japanese whisky majors.

Community spirit, solidarity and duty of memory have remained significant values in Japanese society and Sasanokawa Shuzo is no exception to the rule. In fact, the company has helped launch other brands launch, thereby supporting diversity within the category.

Sasanokawa distillery is based in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture. The Yamazakura Distillery closed in 1998, after being merged into Sasanokowa.
